A little about Erasmus Darwin

Erasmus believed organisms evolved over time, including men. He was unable to prove/ justify his reasoning and theory.

Among Darwin’s many talents, he had an extraordinary scientific insight in physics, chemistry, geology, meteorology and all aspects of biology. Erasmus had many theories of biological evolution by means of natural selection, although criticised by the church like his grandson Charles Darwin, but then later it was left up to Charles to prove biological evolution. Towards the end of his life he gained recognition as the leading English poet of his day.

Erasmus was born in Newark-on-Trent United Kingdom on December 12th, 1731. He later died in Breadsall United Kingdom on April 18th, 1802.
Erasmus was married to Mary Howard (1757 - 1770) Darwin married twice and had 14 children, including two illegitimate daughters by an employee, and, possibly, at least one further illegitimate daughter.
